Dear Prospective Student:

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Alliant International University.

Alliant prepares students for careers in psychology, business, education and other professions. Our programs broadly focus on individuals and human relations in all of their many settings: families, schools, businesses and other organizations. Our faculty and students view active participation in their communities and professions as an essential part of the educational process. We measure quality not just in terms of academic success, but also by the impact our students and faculty have on their professions and in the world.

The big problems that the world will face in this still-new century -- the kinds of issues that will confront us and our children -- will require the kinds of expertise gained by Alliant students. While we have all come to expect miracles from science and technology, many of the most intractable problems we will face in coming years are irreducible human problems requiring the expertise of the human sciences. To solve the problems of our age, we need a deep understanding of how humans think, learn live, and work together.

Alliant is a unique institution—built for the multicultural and global society in which we live.  We pride ourselves on the rich diversity of our faculty and students, and on our long experience in international education.  Alliant combines the traditions of two path-breaking, pioneering institutions: United States International University and the California School of Professional Psychology.  Before joining to form Alliant, each of these legacy institutions had pushed the boundaries of traditional higher education.  Our goal is to continue to push boundaries with innovative degree programs and new methods of teaching and learning.

We are dedicated to blending theory and practice, always remembering that the purpose of education in our context is to translate knowledge into action. This practical professionalism permeates interactions between faculty and students. It underlies all our programs, enabling graduates of Alliant to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, and in the effectiveness of organizations, schools, businesses and communities.
